Waste Collection

 

The port of Viana do Castelo has a Waste Reception and Management Plan, which aims to comply with Directive no. 2000/59/EC, of 27 November, transposed into national law by Decree-Law no. 165/2003, of 24 July. º 165/2003, of 24 July, which regulates the installation and use of port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo waste from ships, as well as fishing and recreational vessels, calling at the port of Viana do Castelo, with the port authority adopting measures to guarantee the delivery of this waste by shipowners or their legal representatives.

The aim of this plan is to increase protection of the marine environment by reducing discharges into the sea.
