The quay is 245 meters long equipped with a floating pontoon and a linking bridge to the open storage area for parking of trailers and containers. There is also a groupage area of 3,000 m2. This terminal allows the vessels to be operated with a ramp on the side, on the bow or on the stern and in any tide.
Asphalt terminal (GALP Comercialização Portugal, Lda.)

For the reception, warehousing and distribution of asphalt with a capacity of 6,256 m3 distributed over 15 tanks . It is fed through two hose connections with a diameter of 6", situated on sector 1 of the commercial port.
Cement Terminal (CECISA - Comércio Internacional, SA)

Terminal for the reception of cement and ashes, occupies a total area of 12,900 m2, consisting of a warehouse for filling the product into sacks and storing them, with an area of about 3,800 m2 and 16 silos, with a total capacity of 49,800 tons of storage.

For the reception, warehousing and distribution of cement in bulk, with a capacity of 6,000 tons and it is fed through a hose connection with a diameter of 10", situated on sector 4 of the commercial port.
Uncovered Storage Area
The 487 meters of quay wall of the commercial sector limit an area of 16 hectares (38 acres).

Water and Electricity Network
The port has private networks to supply water and electricity both to vessels that come into port and to private buildings situated in the port area.
Facilities on the Commercial Port

This building houses the Administration and all services that make up the organizational structure of APVC, SA, and also the Customs Authority, the Tax Section of the GNR and the administrative departments of the Border Inspection Services.

This building houses the Stevedoring Companies, Navigation Agents and Stevedoring Trade Union.

The building of the SEF – Immigration Services is situated west of the Port Community Building.

The Border Inspection Services – PIF, under the jurisdiction of the Direcção Geral de Veterinária (Directorate General of Veterinary), are in charge of inspecting products arriving from third countries destined for human and non human consumption.

The Port of Viana do Castelo has mechanic, electrical, locksmith and carpentry workshops for repair and maintenance of its equipment and infrastructures.
